As a first-generation Salvadoran American, born and raised in Los Angeles, Vanessa’s goal is to empower minority communities with knowledge and understanding of their constitutional rights regardless of their legal status. Vanessa’s interest in legal studies began at the age thirteen when her eldest brother, who was a minor at the time, was apprehended and charged with serious crimes. Her parents hired a Latino criminal defense attorney who explained the complex juvenile delinquency system in their native language and answered all their questions bringing peace during a very difficult time in their lives. Most importantly, he aggressively represented her brother and family. At that point, Vanessa knew she wanted to become an attorney.
In May 2017, Vanessa joined The Matian Firm as an associate attorney. Over the last 7 years she has practiced all over California and federal district courts zealously representing clients from all walks of life providing them and their families with compassion, understanding and aggressive representation.
