Rebecca Hockett is a Senior Associate Criminal Defense Attorney at The Matian Firm. She has been an attorney and practiced criminal law since 2001, first as a prosecutor, then as a defense attorney.
Rebecca Hockett obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Siena College in Loudonville, NY, where she majored in political science, knowing she wanted to go to law school. She obtained her Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law, where she focused her studies on criminal law and trial practice.
After passing the California State Bar, Ms. Hockett worked as a prosecutor for approximately 14 years. She started practicing at the Office of the San Diego City Attorney, then moved on to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. Having worked as a prosecutor for several years gives her special insight and helps her to obtain the best results possible for her clients. Since 2015, she has been practicing as a criminal defense attorney.
In her many years of criminal law experience, Ms. Hockett has tried over fifty cases to verdict. She has handled a wide variety of misdemeanor cases, including but not limited to, DUIs, suspended license, domestic violence, drug offenses, theft, prostitution, assault, and weapons offenses. She has spent the majority of her career handling an extensive range of felonies including homicide, child abuse, child molest, domestic violence, assault, weapons offenses, burglary, auto theft, attempted murder, and drug offenses. In her many years of experience, she has dealt with almost every type of criminal case at one point or another, as well as a wide spectrum of varied legal issues. She is a zealous and devoted advocate for her clients.
