James Finigan grew up in San Diego, California. James’ dream was to become a lawyer and use the legal system to help those in need. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree, double majoring in Political Science and Philosophy. He immediately went to law school where he was selected for the Law Review, worked as a legal writing teaching assistant for two years, and spent a semester working full-time for the New Hampshire Attorney General.

Attorney Finigan brings extensive experience to any client’s case. He has handled a wide range of cases and has a proven track record with judges in Southern California. James understands what strategic moves should be made based on each client’s individual circumstances. Before starting his own practice, James developed a passion for immigration law when he saw the injustices faced by those trying to seek a better life for themselves and their families. He has now brought that experience to Matian Firm, where he loves to work tirelessly to obtain the best possible results for his clients.

For the past several years, James has been defending clients in deportation proceedings before the Immigration Court and has helped countless children obtain legal status after being abused, neglected, or abandoned by one or both parents.

Outside of work, James enjoys caring for his two dogs, attending sporting events, and spending time with friends and family.
