Eli Mohaghegh-Yazdi was born and raised in the Bay Area. He is first generation, being of mixed Colombian and Persian descent and was brought up speaking both Spanish and English. Ever since he can remember, one of Eli’s core values was helping people. He grew up with this as a driving goal and made sure to pursue this ideal in his career. That is why he chose to be a Criminal Defense Attorney.
He began his career while attending Santa Clara Law as an intern with the Northern California Innocence Project, working to overturn false convictions. He transitioned into interning at the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s Office where he gained extensive knowledge and experience. He was then admitted to the Bar in 2012.
Today Eli’s passion is to be in court every day and fight for his clients to ensure they receive the best representation possible. He is well liked and respected by his peers. He has been with The Matian Firm (La Liga Defensora) since 2021 and is the Supervising Attorney for the San Jose Office.
