Edgar J. Cervantes was born in a small pueblo outside Guadalajara, Mexico. His mother brought him to the United States at the age of six looking for a better life. Mr. Cervantes graduated from La Puente High School located in a small Hispanic community in the San Gabriel Valley. In 2005, he enrolled in the United States Marine Corps eager to deploy to serve after the attacks on 9-11. Mr. Cervantes deployed twice to Iraq in defense of our nation until his honorable discharge from the military in 2009.

After his service in the military, he graduated from California State Fullerton with a bachelor’s in criminal justice and a minor in human services. Mr. Cervantes attended Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California focusing his career on immigration law. He attained the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for the course of Legal Writing and Analysis.

Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Cervantes represented immigrants in immigration court facing deportation because of old criminal convictions. He found a passion getting rid of these convictions that cause unjust hardship for the immigrant community. Mr. Cervantes has proudly removed hundreds of convictions for many immigrants preventing deportation and creating pathways to legalization. As an associate of our firm, Mr. Cervantes continues to use his talent to fight against the deportation and separation of immigrant families. Mr. Cervantes is an experienced criminal and immigration defense attorney with over five years of experience in removing hundreds of felony and misdemeanor criminal convictions throughout California. One of his proudest achievements is coordinating the return of a deported immigrant who was deported and subsequently restored to legal resident. Mr. Cervantes removed the criminal conviction that caused the deportation and returned him to his wife and son.
