Melissa Herrera, Esq. is an outstanding first-generation Latina professional. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Melissa herself also has a BA in Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
Melissa is passionate about advocating for clients from all walks of life. She is currently an associate attorney for the criminal defense department at the Matian Law Firm. Before attending law school, Melissa worked at a boutique immigration law firm in San Francisco as a paralegal. Melissa also worked at two different public defender offices during law school, the Solano County Public Defender’s Office and the Orange County Public Defender’s Office.
Melissa has also served as Editor-in-Chief of Hastings Women’s Law Journal. Melissa Herrera is passionate about legal scholarship and stays current on cutting edge case law by researching, writing, and producing scholarship for the benefit of others.
